I was recently on the Project Advisory Committee and participated in the report Incenting Energy Efficient Retrofits: Risks and Opportunities for Consumers which was prepared by the Consumers Council of Canada; a non-profit, voluntary organization, working towards an improved marketplace for consumers in Canada.
Governments and utilities across all provinces in Canada offer financial help for consumers to increase their energy efficiency. In the Consumers Council of Canada’s May 15, 2017 news release for the report, Consumers want tax- and ratepayer-subsidized home energy efficiency programs to be problem free, Council President Don Mercer stated, “Our researchers found consumers expect to be protected within these government initiated programs, and assured of quality work.”
